Received this in the post today! It’s a privilege contributing my first essay in Cristion magazine (Theme of the month: thrill). No surprises with the topic I chose: Mountains. Or rather a biblical mountain called the Mount of Transfiguration. The first section follows the fishermen as they ascend the slopes with their guide. As they scramble, something thrilling happens which stays on their minds forever… The second section then looks at some of my own climbs: one in north Wales and the other in the Pyrenees. I meditate about Christ the Climber and the thrilling effect that pivotal hill, or rather what they saw on that hill, had on his mountaineering friends. Hope you enjoy it!
Braf cael fy nhraethawd cyntaf yng Nghylchgrawn Cristion. Daeth fy nghopi trwy’r post heddiw ac yn hyfryd darllen trwy’r holl erthyglau. Does dim syndod gyda fy mhwnc: mynyddoedd. Wel, un mynydd yn benodol sef Mynydd y Gweddnewidiad. Yn rhan gyntaf y traethawd, rydyn yn dringo Mynydd y Gweddnewidiad gyda Pedr, Ioan ac Iago. Wrth iddynt droedio’r ucheldiroedd, mae rhywbeth anhygoel yn digwydd. Golygfa hollol annisgwyl a newydd iddynt. Mae’r ail ran yn canolbwyntio ar fynyddoedd rwyf wedi dringo yn ddiweddar yng ngogledd Cymry a Ffrainc. Rwy’n myfyrio ar y wefr sy’n gysylltiedig gyda’r fraint o weld Iesu, a’r effaith cafodd y mynydd ar y tri dringwr arall. Mwynhewch!
